3 wire RTDs have a third wire that provides a measurement of the resistance of the lead wire and subtracts this resistance from the read value. This correction compensates for the effect of the resistance of the long lead wires on the temperature measurement and results in improved accuracy.
Key Features
Built-in lead-wire resistance compensation
Higher accuracy than 2-wire RTDs for long-distance wiring
Reliable temperature measurement in industrial environments
Compatible with most PLC, DCS, and transmitter systems
Cost-effective alternative to 4-wire RTDs
Supports stable and repeatable measurement over time
Applications
Long cable installations where accuracy is critical
Industrial machinery and process control systems
Temperature monitoring in motors, generators, and turbines
HVAC, power plants, and chemical processing units
Remote-mounted sensors in tanks, reactors, and pipelines
Automation and instrumentation panels requiring precise readings
